ServiceMax Engage Asset Templates
Overview
Asset visibility is a key feature in Engage. The goal of this project was to create a configuration to allow customers to create, view, update, and delete custom Asset Templates. As a result, users would see only the most relevant details for any given asset.
Role
My role centered around interaction design, evaluating PM’s concepts to identify key elements and leveraging existing library components to inform the most efficient way to move forward.
Outcome
Within three months of launch, Engage garnered enough interest and value to land its first customer—a huge milestone given ServiceMax’s historically long sales cycles.
The Problem
Not all assets are created equal
In light of wanting to create a better out-of-the-box experience, we started with a product screen that would be the same for every asset. In working with customers during our beta program, we learned that while some attributes (e.g., serial number) may be important to see for every asset, there were other details that could be relevant to some assets but ultimately not all.
The Solution
Create, view, edit, and delete Asset Templates so that an administrator can configure targeted product screens to showcase the most important attributes for a given product line. A default template will come out-of-the-box but administrators will be able to access advanced settings to customize an experience better suited for a service provider’s business needs.
